With 36 holes of the American Specific within the books, Sam Burns owns the lead at 17 below because of a second-round 11-under 61 on the Nicklaus Event Course at PGA West.
Burns leads Michael Kim (16 below) by one and Ok.H. Lee (15 below) and beginner Nick Dunlap by two.
The American Specific is held at three programs: Pete Dye’s PGA West Stadium Course, PGA West’s Nicklaus Event Course and La Quinta Nation Membership. A reduce will likely be made after 54 holes.
The purse this week is $8.4 million with the winner taking house $1.512 million.
