I've lost some respect for Rory. He was totally against Liv golf because the PIF money was "dirty money". But the first couple of events were in the middle east, and he had no trouble taking his prize money.

Alex, I think that its important to remember who Rory has been as a player and a man.

He was among the world's best players when he barely had a hair between his legs.

When looking at Rory's career as a whole, it is undoubtedly among the most consistent and successful of any player, ever.  And he's far from done, in my opinion.

Being an American Golf Pro, I didn't always like Rory.  One of the qualities that transformed how I felt about him from being a spoiled, pampered, little tird…. Into holding him in the highest level of respect and admiration…  has been his sincerity, honesty, and his willingness to speak on any subject of which he was asked.

For many years now Rory has been accountable for his game, his words, and his actions.

    Honorable. Admirable.

So when the John Rahm flip-flop went down, (not an admirable quality btw) Rory shared with sincerity his softening stance as it pertained to his Ryder Cup partner.  He got crap for it, but he owned it !

As we began to learn, player by player, that they were full of beans, and possessed not even a fraction of Rory's integrity and character, fans rallied to support him.

Regarding his new willingness to permit LIV players to compete in PGA Tour events, I adamantly disagree with him !  It WILL NOT HAPPEN.

His initial statements regarding the damage done by players who elected to play in the LIV organization is just as accurate now as it was when he made them.

Those players irreparably damaged the PGA Tour.  They betrayed the organization that made them millionaires.  The PGA Tour has not, and will not, resurrect it's former glory.

Those players must not be allowed to compete in PGA sanctioned tournaments without SEVERE consequences for their actions.

I MEAN SEVERE.  Like fines and penalties equal to or more than they betrayed the Tour for.

Not one LIV player is going to do that.  So good riddance, don't let the door swat you in the hiney on your way out.

A few of them have, or will, earn the right to compete in the Majors, as well as the Ryder Cup.

They didn't crap in the mouths of those events.   But as for the PGA Tour, that ship has sailed and it's not coming back to welcome it's enemies.

Don't tell me how it damages the game.   It doesn't.

LIV will become huge because the team concept is extremely entertaining and will be extremely lucrative.

The PGA Tour, like every other Tour worldwide, will be where players can prove themselves and earn a spot on a LIV team.

Those that do will reap the financial rewards of their Tour success by being selected for LIV.

Playing team golf is now the big prize.

Second only to the Majors, whose importance has been elevated to something beyond what we have known so far.

    Why ?

Because winning a Major will mean that you beat the best from every Tour, Individual and Team.

And yall can hiss and scowl and cry all you like, but what I have explained here is done.  This war is over.  The PGA Tour, and individual sport, lost.  LIV, and Team play won.

There isn't any action available to the PGA Tour which ends with it being the King of golf as it once was.

    Long LIV the King ?

No, The King is dead !

The new Authoritarian of Golf is LIV.

THEMS THE FACTS, like it or not !

Tiger and Rory plus other top pga players have so much money invested with the fund managers behind SSG they are now on course to become multi billionaires. Don’t be fooled as the mega rich LIV players will also have the money invested by their own fund managers in the new PGA profits company.
At the end of the day it won’t make one bit of difference to the common golfers.

What is the reason to not let a professional golfer play golf?

The game they play to get rich. Par is par. Some play a course and round better than others. Golfers play for different reasons.

Has anyone noticed that it wasn’t until Rory stepped down from the pga board that his opinion on LIV did a 360 ?

I think what has happened also is that Rory is good friends with many players who went to LIV and they do have a life outside of golf after the clubs have been put away for the night. So he has a conflict or dilemma where he might not like that they went to LIV but he still considers them "friends" who he respects certainly personally if not professionally. Let's not forget he has stated he wants the two to come back together again and i think this is for both personal and business reasons. He doesn't need money but i'm sure he misses playing with a lot of these guys. The game is fractured and he wants it unfractured, even Bryson DeChambeau has come out and said he wants it too.

The question really is: how much more money will Jay Monahan and others who suddenly turn around like Mc Ilroy make by merging the PGATour and LIV Golf ? how much will his salary and bonus increase? All the talk about “growing the game” is all nonsense. It is all about money and personal bank accounts. In 2023 170 people were executed by the Saudi Government. LIV players accept blood money from a Saudi regime that steps on human rights, on democracy and women's right. If you want to grow the game then first of all start growing as humans and grow your human values. Step up for people which are being suppressed and tortured – and stop lying and taking us for a ride. Who cares if Jon Rahm will play the Ryder Cup again. His swing is ugly anyway and nobody wants to watch a player who has blood money in his pockets.
