I think golf is in big trouble… This mess is gonna make it that sponsors can't afford it for the returns on investment. The pga tour is now more or less is forcing the players to play in these signature events.The PIF does not really care about golf it is just a means to the Saudi's plans for their country.
The reality is golf is boring to watch on TV. These guys are cheerleaders for the PGA. I can take it or leave it.

Team golf ⛳️ is a joke. I have zero interest in following any professional golf team. The Ryder Cup for 3 days every 2 years is about all I can stomach. I hope they succeed however because it means my golf watching days are over which means I'm free to actually go play the game without worrying I'm missing something exciting.

How would everyone feel if the Saudis started a professional football league and bought all the top talent like Mahomes, McCaffrey, Kelce, Jefferson, etc. and paid them UPFRONT 5-10 times their current salary? In Australia, majority of club golfers aspire to be in the club rep team. Team golf is a big deal in Australia, but we also play competitively on the weekend. Team rep golf is matchplay, a neglected format on the pro tours. If LIV had teams playing each other in a 5v5 bracket tourney, that'd be worth watching.

You guys are missing the point. Individual golf is why folks play. Beating your buddies. For we amateurs teeing it up at a club tournament is the best. Playing in your flight and beating everyone else in a two day tournament is what golf is. Growing Playing sports was always “team” sports. Playing golf or tennis are individual. When you get your first taste of golf it is like no other sport. It is all on you. You decide the outcome. LIV golf for me is outrageous that any American would accept money from the Saudi’s. 22 years ago they killed 3,000 Americans. Blood money is what it is. Rahm said a year ago that he was unbending in his support of the PGA. He sold out. This idea of I did it for my family is a lie. He was worth about $100 million or more before he went to LIV. There are only a handful of good players at LIV and most of them are very late 30’s or early 40’s. That does not bode well for LIV. Just hold on and LIV will be gone.
He is making an assumption that their are a gazillion people that are suckers enough to buy team golf merch. I dont think thats going to happen. You dont see anyone walking around with a Tiger shirt so why would they spend on some golf team which is unrecognizable to the majority of folks. I agree and disagree with alot of stuff in this pod. Saying that team golf won’t work because if there’s 4 guys on a team and you only like 1 it’s hard to find the passion. Who knows down the road in 10 years that those 4 guys create a huge fan base and now people cheer for this “team” I think it’s very closed minded to say team golf won’t work.
If you have teams with all the best players it could be sick..You have a draft every year..Lots of potential just need to innovate
Seriously, I'm going to care what's said by two guys wearing caps indoors! Professional golf has always been an entertainment – look at the early history of the Tour or Hagen and Kirkwood playing exhibitions before that – pro golf is not an interesting spectator sport and never has been. All pro events (except the majors) are just fund raisers for the pros and the sponsors; they are not genuine events that matter at all, it's just entertainment. People watch pro golf for hints to help their own game, who cares who wins any event other than a major. Golf spectators are virtually unique – they nearly all play the game and care about their game, not the pros' game. Is any other sport like that?
Gary is wrong, team golf will never succeed. Golf is and will always be a one man against fellow golfers , but more importantly “the golf course & Mother Nature “
It's an absolute mess. No interest. The majors need to make a stance which will set the course for who plays where.
LIV events are fun to attend and are a lot more family friendly than PGA events. I thought the USGA would benifit more than they have.

College golf is team play in the USA, Club Golf is team play in Australia. The best Golf has always been match play it has so many more layers than straight up stroke play.
The PGA tour cannot compete with a PIF / Black Rock with 800 billion+ usd in capital. it is purely about money the Saudi's want to develop business ties and investments to grow their capital long term.
Golf is one of their chosen ways to achieve this.

Why should 75, 60 people make past the cut line and at the very least are able to pay their lodging while the other players go home empty handed?? Except for Monaghan and his gang at the PGA tour of course. Terrible management and decision making by the PGA have helped other tours start to get a foothold on professional golf. Golfers from all over the world will now have a chance to at least participate. Look at the LPGA. Half of the players are from Asia and their winning most of their tour events. Even if they went to American universities they still represent Asia. Golf is golf and no matter where, when and what tour you play for, it can only enhance and encourage more people to play a great sport.
Remember, it’s only a game people!!!
