Tiger saved the PGA maybe it's up to him to save golf.
In this merger the PIF needs to give the players that stayed in the PGA a payment. Not hundreds of millions but maybe 20 million a card holding member 10 million? What was the cheapest player they poached?
Complete disagree that Golf is becoming Boxing because it has ALREADY been like boxing for 20 years.
A global sport that is effectively run regionally.
All signature non-major events are US based, 3 of 4 majors are US based. And all players regardless of their country of birth have to live and work in the US to make the best living possible in golf because all other tours do not have the prize money to make a very very good living because all OWGR points are so heavily based to PGA Tour events.
Going global WILL grow the game.
I think it would benefit Augusta National to give Yassir membership. He has access to more money than all of the Augusta National members combined. Some enormous deals could be made.
Realignment is a beautiful thing….
Golf will never become boxing because golf has the majors which is the measurement of excellence in golf.
You guys didnβt seem to mind when he was cranking out the PGA Tourβs talking points. If LIV was on CBS Kyle would have an entirely different opinion.
ππππππ you guys look like you're at a funeral. Had to come and laugh after the shit you guys have talked over the past 2 year. I told you from day 1 the Saudi's were not messing around and should be taken serious.
"The worst thing for Golf is the end of American dominance" π
Liv is a brutal watch . Its beyond cringe and corny. Can they try to fix that so at least people would actually watch
And yes the broadcasting indeed needs to change. The trampoline bouncing around like a little girl subscribing to a new network each week is old as Biden being president
You're all sadly and pathetically missing the point! Let's be honest. Jon Rahm went to LIV STRICTLY FOR THE 600 MILLION. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR ALL PRO GOLFERS IS MONEY! Don't believe any of that nonsense about loving the game and titles being the most important. You can always judge people by their actions. Rahm and other golf stars chose the LIV money over anything the PGA Tour had to offer – history, titles, fame, legacy, or loyalty. I'm happy for Rahm. How could anyone in their right mind turn down 600m! Money is the most important thing in this world for 99% of the people. They all have a price, a number, they will accept. More PGA stars will leave for LIV, I'm sure of it. This might be the end of the PGA Tour as we know it. That will be a deserving fate because of their greed that Michelson pointed out, and because they have tried to monopolize pro golf. From the beginning, LIV has had a right to exist and recruit players, who of their own free will join it. Also, all of that talk about Saudi money being blood money because of the Saudi human rights violations and political murders is hypocritical nonsense. Look at the war crimes and murder the USA is supporting with Israel's murderous genocide of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, for one clear example. USA money is blood money too. We live in a world where many corporations and companies make billions of dollars off of war and murder, or off of polluting the planet with smog and chemicals. So, all of the golf tours and professional sports are full of blood money. I don't like LIV's format or their loud music, but with all of that Saudi money involved it is here to stay. I do think we will soon see a merger of the two tours, because that will be the only way the PGA tour survives.
Cantlay 2024
Watched golf all my life , and the 3 thing that im interested in is history , my favourite players , and fellow Australian player .liv will never have history because they will always be changing the way they play and the courses they . Just about every player on liv have built there reputation on the pga ,where do future stars build there reputation, I won't be watching liv it means nothing to me.
clueless kids chit-chatting about stuff they have no insight in.
Say it ain't so JON– Say it ain't so Jon
The $2.5bn in overall golf revenues is currently generated overwhelmingly from the USA which has a population of 300m. Growing the game means tapping into the other 7.7bn people in the world which is something the PGA has failed to do. It also means doing it without Tiger so itβs important to build up other headline players, especially those who are not Americans.
Pretty sure the PGA will be having a very rough next 4 or 5 years. While LIV GOLF will continue to recruit the very best golf players from the PGA and other golf associations from around the world. By 2028 the PGA will either be part of the PIF/LIV GOLF associations or be irrelevant.
The ONLY reason people don't understand that the LIV GOLF is huge is because the US media outlets refuse to showcase the events. Once they have no choice you'll see all the once Nay Sayers kissing ass. πππ
The pga made their bed now they can sleep in it!!!!!!!!!!! Lolo π
Only a closed mind will have a opinion that canβt change
Outside of the trojan horse theory, very well-thought analyses and understanding
Kyle talks about Tiger almost as if he's in the midst of his prime. Tiger Woods is the only person who matters? I realize he's created some extra interest when he has played in the last year or two, but with each tournament entry the interest in Tiger gets to be less and less and this decline will continue the more he's scene as a non factor in his chances to win.. Tiger Woods is not the future of golf… his days are numbered… to say Tiger is the only person who matters is extremely out of touch. For the PGA to bank on Tiger is insanely short sighted. Whatever efforts have and are being used to bank on and build up Tiger could be better places somewhere else, because those are merely short term gains.
The boxing analogy is apples and oranges on so many levels. The big one for me is, any sport that heavily relies on referees, judges, umpires etc are nonsense sports… at this point it boggles my mind how people can still watch these sporting events and still buy into the facade, because they're so corrupted it isn't even funny, but that's just one. The other being, boxing just isn't that exiting, especially when there's MMA (and this can obviously be argued when it comes to golf as well, however a decent percentage of the public partake in the game of golf unlike boxing and get a degree of enjoyment out of it on that basis). This one I'll mention without breaking it down because it's a long one and that's how golf is filmed and aired is primitive/midevil. You would think recording devices had just been invented and airing golf was a brand new thing with just how little golf is actually seen when watching a tournament. One would think there would be a 1-5 minute delay on the golf being played in order to cut out the down time, practice swings etc, so the viewers get to actually watch more golf and then with the commercials on top of it. While I realize advertising is a necessary thing there needs to be a serious revamping on how advertising is done… I can't believe the ancient advertising model is still being used, with the average advertisement being 45 seconds (were in the majority of them we don't even know what the hell is going or what the ad is for). Anyways the combination of bad filming structure combined with excessive advertisement makes even someone such as myself have a difficult time watching golf. I follow all pro golf and check out shot trackers etc, but after watching it for a little while, I've had enough and go back to following score and shot tracker results online instead… the golf channel is a f**king joke… 50% of the time is literally dedicated to advertising, which is unwatchable, when it cuts from the golf Channel to CBS or something it's suddenly tolerable, because there's significantly less advertising.
Football has many different top leagues throughout the world, it is the most popular sport in the world. Having 2 or more top leagues and decentralising golf is a very good thing long term. The USA don't own golf. The boxing comparison is also very different because golfers don't take serious brain damage and risk their lives every time they play, so that is apples and oranges.
they are growing the professional golf the money won on tour last year was highest ever
The thing I like about Rahm is pretty much every single time he's opened his mouth and given an opinion about something pertaining to golf I've 100% agreed with him . Rory on the other hand I can pretty much bank on the opposite position. And I was stoked about him no longer playing the politician role for the PGA board and his first independent opinion since leaving the board is being gung ho on the rollback… as I slap myself on the forehead.
Some fans cling to LIV due to the this vs that mentality, which probably 75+% of the public suffer from. Especially with the way the PGA tour handled the LIV stuff when it first came into fruition and the insane attack against the players who went there… this in turn creates a blind support for LIV due to the pga tours atrocities. I always supported the players and their decisions and due to the pga tours handling of the situation I admit I was and maybe partially am rooting for LIV, but I've watched the product and as of now it's a bit sub par. Doesn't mean it can't get better, especially their website. The LIV website is one of the worst website ever in the history of the internet… at this point I theorize it was created by a saboteur trying to destroy LIV. It's easier to hack the Public Investment Fund then it is to find the individual results for a particular/recent LIV tournament, but you'll often get the team results up the arse. It's not that big of a deal, you'll just have to go to another random website because the LIV site doesn't have such information. The event results are apparently a last priority. You get a lot of corny pictures blown up to 10 times normal website size… you'll think that your monitor is set on 800×600…. nope, that's just their goofy website for whatever reason.
Is Rams team going to be sponsored by Callaway
callway a part of jon team
No longer a competitive pro golfer. Now just another mercenary exhibition side show on the Khashoggi Tour.
