Thought PGA and LIV golf had decided to join forces – obviously negotiations have broken down. Is the LPGA next?
Does this make Rahm the richest golfer in the world?
I think I solved a LIV golf problem last night, it all came to me at once. How do you have 72 holes, a cut and get owgr and still have LIV (54) be relevant.
I did it so check this out.
LIV golf is a 72 hole shotgun start tournament.
After 18 holes the bottom 12-24 ( whatever number is cut) from the final 3 days 54 holes.
Does that mean they go home?
No they are cut from the individual tournament eligibility.
The cut players must continue to play the 54 holes with the rest of the field and their scores are now only eligible to contribute to team scoring.
You can continue to show these cut players and their scores throughout the tournament, however their name on the pylon would just be greyed out.
I know people will then say this, what if one of those cut players goes on to actually win the tournament over the next 54 holes?
Well who cares, for all practical purposes they no longer exist in relation to the individual trophy, it is simple, they have been cut and now must play for team only.
I love the idea of this, I love that it ticks a lot of boxes and really then makes the teams and their motivation matter even more.
I also like the implication that an entire team can get cut from the individual but still go on to win the team trophy overall.
If someone has already suggested this scenario I haven't heard it.

It is happening with footballers and it will continue to happen with golfers. The PGA initially thought that it would be able to keep LIV relatively small with its sanctions etc. The reality is that people are being offered ludicrous amounts of money to work with LIV and they are humans at the end of it. Their families for generations will have a very comfortable life. The PGA lost their fight by initially trying to oust LIV, but unless they do something to work together, it will continue to happen

Why wouldn’t you take the money if the tours are going to merge anyway?
If the PGA wants to stay relevant then they have to allow LIV golfers to play PGA events when they want to or dare i say it this could be the landslide of players going to LIV.
To me, the money LIV is giving players is obscene. FFS all these guys do is hit a golf ball. Max Verstappen only got $55 million for 2023, and he has to be super fit, and each race he is risking injury if he has a bad crash. People can say what they please about the other tours, at the end of the day they are only Golfers. Lucas Glover won 2 times, 3 top five, missed eleven cuts and still made $7.03 million for 2023. Victor Hovland made $32 million. A lot of money for hitting a Golf ball. I play Golf and love the game, but I am getting tired of watching people playing for such huge sums of money.
You seem to be very biased towards the PGA. Who is the PGA ? A bunch of bullies and cry babies in equal measure if you ask me. Not to mention that they have no morals and lost all credibility when they grabbed at the so called blood money when it came their way!. Any pro golfer should have the right to go whichever tour they prefer. Then of course there is the farce called the OWGR that the PGA and their buddies manipulate as a bullying tool to get back at "defectors" that do not want to play their game and enrich them and their goals. Majors will not be majors unless all the best golfers irrespective of tour can play. Point is case in Dean Burmester from LIV who played 2x DP World Tours (PGA's side-kick) and won both! Oh, and Tiger and his closed buddy-club and their silly small closed field that dished themselves a huge amount of OWGR points … but no, not to LIV – why ? Well, just now they beat us … like Dean Burmester just did. PGA is so yesterday and anti-viewer orientated and selfish that it is nauseating.
It's pure money, and John will be at call of his Saudi paymasters for 5 years; you will play here and do this and that. So the freedom to choose his event and schedule will be over; how will his sponsors take it, as most LIV players lost contracts. Yes, 300 million softens the blow a bit, but I still don't find the LIV series exciting, and if Rahm comes in, who gets dropped, or will they make a couple more crazy-named teams up. I am not sure what big-name sponsors will flow to the LIV series; with its background and history, there will be new names who come via PGA and DP tours to replace him.

Just the same as when Cam Smith went. The tour will move on and recover, there are new players emerging all the time. Shame, but move on.
My personal view is that I don't particularly enjoy LIV – I enjoy attending football matches but don't necessarily want that constant noise on a golf course. I also see little attraction to the team element LIV is building. Others will have absolutely different views and I respect that. I also respect Jon Rahm's right to decide where he wants to play and good luck to him. What I think is challenging is how the PGA react to this – it gives LIV a stronger hand in the negotiation of the agreement but the PGA seem to be trying to find ways of not getting this over the line. So what if there are different tours – the main issue is the majors and letting the system allow the best golfers to compete – PGA or LIV.
Really not botherd anymore. Dont watch golf anymore afterward playing since1967 and watching all golf all over Britain. Stupid money just let them get on with it.very very sad😢
How in the world can they pay money like this while still being (profitable)? LIV golf events are not bringing in money like that to sustain and why would they just blow money to create a golf tour?
If the players were just honest that it’s about the ££££, how many would join LIV without the signing fee s ? Apart from lads that’s at end of careers .

At this point, the PGA stake holders should sell everything to the Saudis. They're buying up everything around the world, so stop this nonsense and get down to business.
I don't play but I began watching almost every week in 2017. I don't watch these days unless Tiger, Justin or Jordan are playing. If they go, then I'll free up a lot of time for other hobbies.
Lost all interest in the PGA. Without the worlds best players, the majors will lose interest as well. Monaghan should have accepted the the meeting with Greg Norman and just maybe the fans and players would see the best of both leagues. Monaghan can’t last long…..
A bit naive but I hope LIV and PGA merge. Let the top LIV golfers who are eligible for the majors back into the pga tour into the elevated events the rest of the LIV golfers can play on DP World tour or Korn Ferry events. Scrap the team events though. Let the existing pga tour players vote. Will the LiV golfers be allowed to keep their signing on fees. Also scrap these co-sanctioned events for the pga tour/DP world tour aswell. Rory only played 3 regular European tour events. Only major which counts for race of Dubai should be the open. Also if they don’t play a certain amount of events then they are ineligible for the Ryder cup.
This will be a better future for golf and go John go! Let’s hope LIV don’t go down the shambolic road of “roll back” golf balls!
Personally if your leaving for the money, and not have to qualify for a tournament.. Then I say go but you don't get to play in any of the major tournament's.. here in the USA…my opinion
I won't ever watch a LIV tournament
I cant believe how much americans want the P GA tour to collapse. That is why they always lose the Rhyder Cup. Sad
I will be watching LIV golf from now onwards. Rahmbo is one of the best to ever hold a golf club. He is up there with Tiger and Rory. Rory will join LIV, and then Viktor Hovland and finally Max Homa. The PGA is officially dead!
