Wyndom’s not a big name even with a major win,
Who cares, really? Those who left to go to LIV knew what they were doing. Sleep in the bed you made.
If I'm young, take the money and run. Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring. This whole situation is a mess, plus you got sponsors dropping out. It's getting expensive to sponsor events, and guess who pays for it, the consumers of those products in the long run.
Nothing is done, done for a couple more weeks. Don't be surprised if he still leaves. But it could also turn out to be nothing. Wyndham if offered a deal and does not take it, he's not that sharp.
If Willy Z was offered 120m, i'm sure WC was not far off that.
David Puig was in college and joined Liv. His team Torque last year won heaps of money and had some good individual results last year. David Puig even qualify for USA open last year and made the cut. So even on Liv you can qualify for USA open and open.
Not sure LIV is handing out huge deals anymore. I think a lot of players are still holding out for a huge payday and it's not happening. Rumor was Finau was offered 70-80 million before Rahm signed. Afterwards, PIF lowered the offer to 20 million and Finau walked. I think players are holding out for the huge deal and it's not happening.
I don't want the merger to happen. I like LIV the way it is. The coverage is excellent. It's non stop action. All the personalities are over there. And I love the drama between LIV and PGA. It makes for great content. 🙂
This is a Harem. Just men. These Saudi league golfers were bought and paid for. Bought to do the will of their owners. They LEFT THE PGA. They are owned by an entity that has the rights to them. Now go away and perform for those owners. This is easy math.
WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT LIV GOLF? EXPLAIN IT TO ME. Not sure why you're so committed to simping for LIV. Not everyone cares about money as much as you apparently do. There are plenty of reasons other than money to not go to work for a terrorist funding family's new golf business, clowns. It isn't a stigma, it is reality. They made a gamble.
Is LIV paying you?
The guys who only make cuts occasionally still make way more money than you with sponsors and winnings.
LIV is as much a sponsor as it is a golf org. Wear their logo on every one of your shirts, do their program, be on their team, etc. Did you ever think that might not appeal to someone who has good sponsors and makes in the 8 digits? LOL
I'm still failing to understand why Private Capital (SSG) would want to be involved with the PGAT if no deal gets done with PIF to come together. You mentioned sponsors leaving and funds to pay purses drying up and why the PGAT needs private equity. But what would private equity get out of the deal? how will they get a return on capital? What is the PGAT's idea to grow the game, make it more valuable, increase revenue etc and actually create a return for private equity? The PGAT is a non profit (remember). Webb Simpson recently indicated he didn't think major changes were required. Perhaps someone can explain to me how the current dying model would be attractive to getting a return on capital for private investment.
Add to that the continued growth and poaching of players from the PGAT and around the world and this just makes me think any private equity will not want to compete against PIF and just see further erosion of any value placed on the PGAT.
LIV is not a economically sound model. How long will the Saudi's pour billions into it? How many golfers can they or will they sign? If the PGA engages in benign neglect, the LIV will fold under it's own weight.
The only golfer who ever really moved the needle is Tiger.
No one I know watches LIV.
The LIV guys are still just shills for the Saudi's. How do they face their wives and daughters?
Can't be LIV if it's 4 rounds – then its LXXII
My question for you two. Why are you guys not part of the Good Good 2 man scramble?
Clearly this shows LIv is not just throwing money around. If that was the case they would have got whyndham.
Not only will he make more on LIv, I think he will also get more attention.
Maybe he was demanding team ownership. That’s probably not happening dude. Take the money and go.
Also this feeling sorry for lower level guys is ridiculous. Every pga tour event still pays over a million to the winner. There is still money there. I think those sponsors are still happy. It’s the ones that got pushed into the signature events stuff that are leaving. Why would they pay way more during an exodus of the players ?
Taking the top Ams is just as devastating as taking the top pros—especially to the credibility of the owgr.
LIv wins officially mean as much as almost any pga tour win. Bryson. Brooks rahm just to name a few. I mean cmon.
Random LIv guys go to the DP world tour and win.
There’s a lot of politics still but a LIv win is huge. Any of these college boys win on LIv, even have a few great showings, that’s instant pro credibility no matter what some may say still—Especially at the good old owgr.
Clark has no global value to LIV. Won't pay him big money. LIV wants players outside US UK. Global value players from Scandinavia, Asia, Latin countries. They'll take US and UK players for cheap. Don't need them for global prospects. Got enough. Clark didn't get the big payday offer.
Doesn't matter. That tour has no significant TV anyway.
Tommy to team Rahm. It would be an international sensation
Plans for a bigger field for LIV has always been in place and Jon Rahm had absolutely ZERO to do with that.
A 4th round is not going to happen. Fans will learn to embrace 54 just as they have 72.
The PGA/LIV deal is no deal. The negotiations are merely tools in the current power struggle, and the PGA has brought a golf club to a gun fight.
And NO DEAL is ultimately what will be best for the game.
The PGA Tour has talked itself into peeing their pants, and is guilty of empowering LIV through their lack of belief in their own product.
The PGA Tour and LIV compliment one another nicely. And with the PIF backing and the natural excitement of a well thought out Professional team concept was always going to thrive.
Just because the self proclaimed YouTube golf experts like yourselves didn't jump in and experience the excitement of LIV doesn't mean that many fans like me didn't support the concept or view the competition.
No it wasn't televised and it required a little bit of a new (temporary) methods for viewing.
But the team competition was freakin AWESOME !
When even more fans like me give LIV an opportunity, it is going to explode !
This past season was so exciting and I cant wait to pick a team to support, to buy their shirts and fan gear, and to attend their competitions live.
Yes the PGA Tour is quickly becoming a feeder league for LIV, just as every other worldwide professional tour has, and this was always going to be the case.
"But we want to see the best players face one another " the YouTube experts cried..😢
You will. In the Majors. The OWGR will rapidly fix itself or die. Truth is its nearly dead right now. It would be a good time for a competitor to come in and replace OWGR and they know it.
OWGR will fix itself, the Major Championships will protect themselves, and the DP Worldwide, The PGA Tour, The other worldwide Pro tours, and LIV will all thrive, and they dont need to like one another to do so.
Btw, the sudden disappearance of the leadership of golf's biggest organizations that we are seeing right now is not random, and not coincidental. This is the type of "fortunate circumstances" that occur when you deal with one organization having all of the wealth.
Once they get rid of Monahan that will be the last head honcho to fall.
And the ONLY CURRENT PROFESSIONAL GOLF LEADERSHIP TO SURVIVE WILL BE GREG NORMAN !!
And THAT is freakin HILARIOUS !!
You were late to the ball, not us.
The Majors are not, I REPEAT ARE NOT, going to reduce exemption years for Major Champion Golfers. Those responsible for caretaking duties of the major championships are far too intelligent to devalue the rewards of victory. To think differently, as y'all discuss here, is moronic.
Would think, it is not only in the intrest to the young NCAA champion himself, but also his family. The family has put a lot of money into their ofsprings carreer allredy before he has made to the college/university team and could be wanting something back allready.
Such a carrot scenario in front of a family, who has financed the kid for so many years may have a say on the matter as well. Not an easy decision to make and consider all the sides to it.
Intresting times, to say the least.
Sports tourism bodies are paying big bucks to get tournaments and Hong Kong, Singapore and Adelaide are all paying for themselves this way and with tickets, US tournaments are a dead loss that's true. Hard to say who has the less sound model at the elevated prize purse level. Probably the PGA who rely on virtue signaling CEO's constrained by social contracts, lets face it golf is not a socially acceptable pursuit and golfers are kidding themselves about the way they are viewed by "progressives", wherever they are progressing back towards socialism as far as I can tell.
The day liv gets OWGR points, it’s over for the PGA tour
Wyndham I’m sure wanted WAY too much money.
I’m sure of it.
I wouldn’t pay him a lot. Some but not a lot
I’m sure that’s what it was
This is no big deal
First time I heard of Wyndom Clark I honestly thought it was a tournament. Shocking name
You can't loose something you didn't already have…just saying. Anyway, LIV just need 2/3 more top players and that should be enough to break the camel's back…
So poached, steal, lure, grab n dash, Wow. The same ol hack media narrative. How about. A player has been made an offer to play on LIV tour. 🤨.
IF LIV Gets OWGR points….The PGA is dead in the water.
Who? He got hot once! Nobody is tuning in to see Clarke.
I think the PGA is paying, but doing it privately. I would guess the top 10 and new and younger pros. Im sure alot of pros want to go to Liv. All we need is time and we will see, how things go. Rory has backed off a ton, as he was the mouth againest Liv. Rahm has to have a team and the PGA knows this, so they got to try and stop any players from leaving, its just common sense.
For these kids to forfeit there college years and education they’re getting a LOT MORE than $250K. I would guess closer to $10 to $20 million.
Soon players will be paying LIV to get on the roster.
you are forgetting about endorsement deals $ 50 m over 5 years isnt any different that a $ 10 m / year endorsement deal … in other words a zero net sum .. liv still sucks and no one is watching
Tv audience is bigger worldwide than you think . The world is bigger than usa
This blog didnt age well after TH signed and Rahms team won 3M, gosh
