It’s a dumb outdated rule
The 2 old white men on this panel think signing a correct scorecard is way more important than having a top 10 player in the world playing on the weekend. These dinosaurs need to realize that the sport they are paid to talk about is bleeding to death. If Tiger died in that car crash in 2021 would they still have jobs? All the Golf Channel has covered the last 4 months has been Tiger.
I signed an incorrect score card after winning the first flight of the Mackenzie qualifier @ Pasatiempo in 2005. I had cancer at the time, and was in a deep mental funk but somehow played well enough to win my flight by 2 strokes. Sadly, there was a scoring error that I did not notice. The assistant pro brought it to my attention in the men's lounge after I had already signed the card. It was Sunday, and the head pro Ken Woods was not working but they called him down to make the call, and I was DQ'd. It was a devastating penalty given my state of mind but those were the rules of golf. The Mackenzie Cup was held in England that year, but I was not there.
Tiger is done. Maybe on the seniors tour.
PGA tour is a snooze fest without tiger. Everyone has known that for 30 years. They did nothing but act like liberal elites. LIV is the answer.
Yep stupid rule
There are only 4 Majors, and a ton more players now than before. If you go by boxing the boxing matrix; no doubt Ali was the greatest…he beat them ALL, but then after Tyson especially, they started making their own rules and keeping the best away from the best to claim 'their' best…wbc, wba, lineal, wbo…. Same thing might be happening with golf…PGA, LIV etc.. I think LIV, if it keeps going, will make their own 'Majors'….like the Australian Open being a Major etc..
And this is why millenials hate golf
How many professional sports don’t have score keepers??? I think they should electronically keep the scores for them and they can sign the card when they finish… electronically.
All the grey hairs trying to tow the line, hold tradition, and speak precedent… it’s ridiculous. No pro sport has their athletes keep score.
What’s absurd is that Spieth needs to takes his shoes off to count to four.
There is absolutely too much money involved, these top tour players are NOT hungry, there is no sense of urgency to win a MAJOR if you win a couple tournaments a year! The PGA is SOFT!
To me the caddy and the player should keep score and compare after 18 holes ⛳️
Why exactly would a professional golfer write down the wrong number on his score card? For what reason did this happen. Was he confused? This is his profession. The entire conversation is ridiculous. It’s more of the dumbing down of America and not taking personal responsibility.
agree with Matt and Rex. who benefited from Jordan's DQ? antiquated rules are bad for golf. fix them.
This is absurd. There’s a digital scorecard. We see most shots. There’s cameras everywhere. Just correct the score man. The guy knows every shot is seen and recorded and mostly televised. Like come on… this guy just made a mistake
Sorry….if it was Patrick Reid who signed an incorrect scorecard would the the discussion be a question of fairness?
Even if he electronically kept his own score, he still would’ve wrote down the wrong number lol😂 he was sick and in a head fog that day
Tiger is not thru playing by a longshot. He's 48. At 50 years old he'll be possibly be playing on the Champions Tour in 2026. I expect him to win a US Senior Open and become the all time USGA Championships winner with 10: 3 USGA Juniors, 3 US Amateurs, 3 US Opens. Like his longtime idol, Jack Nicholas who won 2 US Seniors at age 51 and 53, Tiger will participate in the Champions Tour to play in the US Senior Open. 3 rounds of golf is not as demanding as 4 rounds. And another record will fall.
The other major record is the most PGA wins. One more win on the PGA tour and Tiger has 83 wins.
