Common sense once again, great post man….
I’ve watched zero golf since the announcement
LIV is in such bad shape that Nike offered Koepka “$2 Billion” for his team and now he’s wearing new Nike golf shoes. Meanwhile big sponsors like Wells Fargo and Farmers are leaving the Tour. More pressure by the Saudis could be leveraged because companies they own spend $48 Billion per yr on advertising on the Tour.
They (PGA Tour and DPW tour) better make a deal before LIV/PIF get a Real TV sports Network to broadcast LIV golf to the American audience. Once that happens the PGA Tour is done because the sponsors will follow the big players and LIV…
Yeah! We are looking forward to an amplified John Rahm at full volume at LIV Golf MAYAKOBA! I wonder if the PGA Tour wished they had collaborated much sooner?
100% agree, flip floppers
The TOUR system is where real competition lives. LIV will remain an aspirational exhibition circuit. 'One day son, if you play real hard and win a lot, you can get the big LIV payday.' As for cross over events, it just doesn't work except for LIV major winners.
Well that was easily the worst podcast that I have ever watched. Stick to golf instruction. Not that I disagree with his points, just that he is awful at communicating. Just horrible.
Still bitter with the PGA 😁 Hank stick to teaching your communication skills suck
Good work. Agree with almost all of what you say.
Disagree with hindsight because I don’t know about you but I knew the pga tour and the DP world tour had to work with them while they still had leverage, which they don’t have nearly as much anymore.
I disagree with disparaging Kirk and Murray. They may both have had alcohol issues and are not golden boys, but they are ballers. You don’t win the sentry or the song unless you are a baller.
I agree with money talks but it is a case study of how despite the money the tours and their “corrupt golf media” as you call it, we’re able to fool These guys with fear, and promises, and guilt and whatever else they did to detract them from the way real life works.
Rory is so annoying it’s crazy. In don’t believe everything he says because he is slow to understand things so i still don’t trust him much at all on anything.
You should be working for LIv. You’ve done enough in this game and are a bold speaker.
Hank Haney is on the money with his takes! Awesome stuff.
Thats the only time I drink golfing. Moved to texas no leagues miss ohio drinking league.
It's a mistake to have Jay Monahan have anything to do with LIV or the PGA.
The bigger fip flopper is Jay Monahan! That's why he can't be trusted. Plus bad manager. Rory was a Monahan stooge and sucker. He was sold out by Jay.
Hank, loved your book and have watched a lot of your teaching. But…. The PGA, with other organizations, whether it likes it or not, has the primary job to work with R&A, USGA, etc. to preserve the Game, and all that means about character, craft, history and tradition. Growing, making money for the players, etc. are subordinate. The PGA from its inception was to make a better deal for the players. But, it learned that sounding like the Keeper of the Game sells better and distinguishes it from other sports to watch on a Sunday afternoon. The Saudis are just playing America the way they see it – corrupt, stupid and likely to come apart while watching that makes them feel good about themselves. They don’t need to fire a shot. They throw money as a lubricant to hasten the self destruction of our reputation as a country and our role of the standard for the free world. PGA is already the alternative to big money – the Saudis took that title. I hope it embraces the role of promoting and teaching what’s great about golf and having tournaments with real golfers. The stars among them will emerge. PGA can get ahead of this or wait for the Saudis to dictate this change.
the money has never been available globally . the DP and ASIAN tours are great and go every where and grow the game in golf crazy countries , with more golfers than courses . . but they never grew because the local corp do not support them the way the usa supports the pgat . the usa has the money . that is why the pgat has the players . is pif going to become santa and give everyone billions ? liv is costing pif a billion a year now for nothing . how long is pif going to hemorrhage money ? golf is a very very niche sport . to compare it to the mega teams sports is insane . the fact that sponsors are pulling back says their max has been reached , no matter how much you think golf is worth . there is no more money . there is your answer what golf is worth . if yazir really wanted to grow the game he would have gotten involved with the DP tour . growing the game is the last thing they want . why is liv doing 1/2 their tournaments in the usa when pif is paying the bill any way , liv doesnt have even 1 sponsor . liv gets its push from normans hatred and bitterness to the pgat . and yazir only wants to be a big shot in r&a and angc . liv is not a watchable tour and no one likes it . if it was you would have gotten more than 1. 7 k views in 3 days . cup cake sites get 100k in 30 mins
There is a very simple and easy solution to this issue. PGA doesn't need to control everything golf, to be in charge and the only party that can decide who can do what in the world of golf. Golfers should be allowed to play where they want and for whoever are willing to pay them to play. If PLAYER A wants to play on PGA Tour he is free to do that without the DP Tour, LIV or any other Tour discriminating against him. The same goes for PLAYER B if he decides to accept an offer from LIV. If the PGA or DP Tour wants to keep PLAYER B on their Tour, they must make a counter-offer which he can accept or decline…it's his job and it's up to him. Should he want to return to the PGA Tour, he can either apply (if there is space) or wait for an offer. No need or justification in penalizing him for taking up an offer to play on another Tour. And if any Tour wants to keep their players, it is up to that Tour to better their product in order to keep players, or to attract new players. The MAJORS should be non-affiliated and only interested in having the best players to attract the best competition and the best product for the spectators, fans and followers. That is how easy it is…but no, the PGA wants to continue with their monopoly and stranglehold they have on world golf.
Rory should try to be original…a World Tour was Greg's vision which he already pitched to the PGA in 1994 and was shot down!
PIF should start a ne European Tour (they can scrap the DP Tour at this stage anyway) and make it as good as it was in the 80's and 90's….and that will rival the PGA in the USA
The PGA are setting themselves up perfectly to become a feeder tour to a future PiF run Global World Tour 😂.
Great podcast Hank. You hit the nail on the head many times 👍
I love your take on LIV!
Keep it up!
