Coming from someone who works in the industry, when this golf bubble (that we are 100% in) bursts, I have no idea what the future looks like and that is scary.

Take the NBA's IST as an example. Nobody is watching it for the crazy courts. No one has said they like it because the players will get 500k. The reason why it has been such a success is because the games have been compelling and the competitive nature of the games have been ramped up. Fans and casuals want to see excellence at the highest levels of any sport. The best players in the world playing against each other when its clear the players are giving it their all, that is what brings eyeballs. Golf has a theatrical advantage, given how natural entertaining drama is manufactured through the game itself. Tiger brought so many eyeballs because of how good he was, not because he was so rich.

So much salt from you guys, i have never listened to your stuff before but heard you were PGAT mouthpieces….. The world is taking back Golf and sharing it, the US will remain the largest market but not the only market. PIF and LIV is growing world golf for those that have a view beyond continental USA. The Asian tour has made enormous progress and if it was not for Pelley being owned by Jay DP would also be in a healthier way. Brandel at least now has it right if PGAT don't merge then they will be toast….. PE/VC will never work against a limitless bag of cash, they are professional athletes.

PGAT brought this on themselves when they disrespected the biggest funders in world sport (golf's value is a fraction of what they have put into World football/F1 etc). They could have had 6-8 international team events and more money for US based events and grown their value, instead they bet on their power monopoly. You are deluded if you don't think ESPN or FOX are not getting access to Rham announcements unless they too are ready to cross the PGAT picket line, one more barrier crossed.

    Just a thought…

Active @PGATOUR players with multiple majors (excluding TW):
    Rory (4) + Jordan (3) + Collin (2) + JT (2) = 11

    Active @livgolf_league players:
    Phil (6) + Brooks (5) + Bubba (2) + Kaymer (2) + DJ (2) + Rahm (2) = 19

Door now wide open for VH, SS, CM, TK?🤪

I think LIV Golf has credited a lot of overinflated egos. Jon Rahm got 566M to run away. 302 M upfront and the rest in signing bonus that is according to the SBJ and Wall Street Journal. That makes Jon the most richest athelete of 2023. Did he really want to run away or was LIV just FINALLY desperate cause of the fact that his deal is no where to be done. I remember when that league first formed a couple of years ago, Jon offered 300M to join but didnt happen.

You guys can shit on the 'grow the game' calls all you like, but anecdotally here in Australia LIV gets a lot more air time in general sport conversation and random 4-balls chats on course than the PGA tour. The Majors and Tiger aside, I can't recall the last conversation I had about the PGA tour, as opposed to LIV which over the last few years has come up in random conversations in multiple friend groups, and non-golf and non-sport fan friends are showing some interest in going to Adelaide to watch next years LIV event – compare that to the last big event we had here (the President's Cup with Tiger Fucking Woods playing), I can't say a single non-golf friend mentioned anything about it let alone wanted to go. Whether you like it or not, that is growing the game.

Soly, "going back to that time period, the Khashoggi stuff was very recent" ….. he was murdered in 2018, LIV wasn't a serious conversation for at least 3 years afterwards. Sportwashing wasn't really being talked about when Jay wouldn't take PIF's calls, and the whole 'blood money' concept wasn't spoken about until well after moves had already been made. Are you really suggesting Jay didn't take those early calls because of Khashoggi? That's a bit of revisionist history isn't it?

One thing you guys need to take into account is than the average non golfing nut will watch golf if the scenery is interesting. For example in South Africa the most watched golf is the Dunhill which is played now at Leopard Creek GC which is basically on the edge of Kruger Park. So you see loads of great animals and birds with an expert commentator who can explain what the birds are etc etc. .

You guys just don’t get it LIV is the big dog. All of the other tours including PGA are just feeder tours to play in LIV. Keep hanging on to PGA and lose your future. Jump to LIV while you can

Hitching a ride to Tiger who plays if he’s lucky 5 times a year is a flawed thought and hope he saves the tour. Spieth is popular but has been irrelevant for years now.

The first time I watched LIV I streamed the phone app and was hooked and set it up to on CW to record all coming tournaments. I gave the majors a break the first year and from now on if top LIV players are not invited to play I won’t be watching them. Australia last year was the best tournament I ever saw that wasn’t a major and it hooked many of my golfing buddies once I got them to watch it

The LIV event that only sold 500 tickets wasn't a regular event, it was for guys trying to earn their way on. You didn't have all the stars there, duh. Take all the star players out of a regular PGA tour event and see how many tickets you sell. You guys need to realize LIV was the best thing that could ever happen to a golf pro. They are finally getting contracts like every other pro sports (basketball, football, baseball). And PLEASE, stop with the moral BS, the PGA supported the communist BLM organization. And if you think the US isn't guilty of human rights issues (CIA ops), you need to wake up.
