i laugh at all the commentators talking about players changing their mind on what they previously stated, well what about Monahan and PGATs previous statements about PIF and what they are doing now.

I watch the game of golf because it’s my favorite game. Tiger is my favorite golfer. I keep watching because he is still on the pga tour. If Tiger went to LIV golf, I would consider that his retirement from the game and I wouldn’t watch anymore. That to me would be a complete and total betrayal of Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, they created the pga tour. I would watch him again, if he returned to the pga tour, if he comes out of retirement but other than Tiger, I might watch Rory. That’s about it. I have never bet on golf and I never will. I watch for the love of the game. I don’t need to bet on it, to enjoy it.❤😊🎉

Of course we all like Gary. But when you are paid massive amounts of money to promote the folks paying you its hard to be credible as an objective commentator.

Glad Tiger time was in my lifetime of being a golf fan. Herein it is up in air, and frankly after 40+ years, if it gets too weird as a golf fan , I can easily pivot in my twilight years. Having grown up in the Valley and golfing most of my life, I look forward to retirement and quitting golf and finding new hobbies, opposite of the snowbirds.

Monaghan is the Bernie Eccelstone of F1….the players are finally realizing this…the PGA will become the Korn Ferry Tour…LIV will eat them all up…Tiger/Rory/Justin…it's over….the only thing that matters are the Majors..Ryder Cup…

Whoa, stay on the tour and play against the best golfers. Has he Forgotten that Kopka, Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Dechambeau Bubba, Cam Smith, Garcia, Reed, etc. All of these and several more are easily among the best golfers. Either that or when they move to the LIV tour they lose their talent.

Those two guys that say they don’t get or not into the team aspect of Liv I believe are either in denial because they are haters of Liv or being hypocritical. Competitors love the competition and golf is basically a solo competition. Now paired together in a team, that competition ramps up more so. When you play golf with your buddies, and you team up, golf becomes more fun, competitive and meaningful. I bet these guys feel that when they play teams with their buddies therefore hypocritical. They’re like Chamblee, once you take a hater stance, you cannot be objective and change your view because you will come across as phony.

PGA had massive power 60+ years ago, the realization that the players ARE the equity has finally eroded the PGA centralized power base incrementally over the years, and they (PGA) did not keep up…..the old school central power base was too ingrained, the PGA did not see this in time, even casual observers could see this was coming with the democratization of ideas and organizations and open source knowledge. How many folks knew the PGA tour was set up as a non tax paying not for profit organization ? Not until open knowledge and non profit watch dog websites did this even come to light. People are asking, "what is the PGA tour's added value to the system?" Not much, they organize tournaments and keep statistics and invest the retirement trust funds, pretty much it….and they are a licensing entity benefitting off the actual valuable equity base which is the player identity of themselves….players are the ones eyeballs want to see, literally not one person on earth cares about the entity of the PGA tour. Not one. By the way, Gary M is a gem, thinks outside the box, great guest. keep it going.

Truth is the system placed Majors at the top of the mountain. Gary points out the OWRG will disappear over time but for many of the top players their LIV contracts will be coming to an end. Question Why would PGA Tour not take back the top players. My prediction PGA tour JM Commish will never cut a deal with LIV owners, but surprise with a PE deal.

Odd how you boys view LIV as TEAM Golf.
Obviously they have teams, however winning and placing as an individual pays higher than the team pays.

A viewer tunes in for the Individual championship, and the team aspect is a bit of a sidenote.
Admittedly the names are a bit hokey. However, on the back 9 on Sunday both individual and team competition is quite compelling. And the best part, everyone is playing at the same time. This is vastly superior to the "morning" and "afternoon" tee times and switching around to different broadcast channels, and dealing with an insane number of commercials

Team golf is a massive part of the game. Every competitive golfer grows up playing team golf… I played middle school then high school then in college… the pros have underutilized team golf until now

Gary is right…viewership is abysmal for both PGA and LIV platforms…and the PGA needs to evolve. YouTube golf seems to be getting more popular because they're "people like us" playing and having fun with friends.

It's Year 3 of LIV, they had to go all in. It's do or die because contracts of other major players – Kopeka and DJ to name a couple, plus Phil is old and becoming more of a circus act. The attendance and ratings are pathetic. Maybe PGA numbers ratings are bad too — but Pro Golf, like Pro Tennis, has a max audience. Music, cheerleaders and vibrant colors will not expand the sport. I think this process will just dilute a rather small audience.

McCord is such a good guy – and unlike a lot of players has a healthy ego – He does not even mention that he is the guy who came up with the 125 exempt tour. That is how he got known to the public in the game – and then Frank Chirkanian recognized that he had a lot of juice amongst the players and knew he was topped out as a player and tried him out as an announcer. the rest is history.

Nice cast boys. BUT (per usual with newbies) you guys need to shut up and let your guest fully express and FINISH their thoughts. You constantly interrupted McCord and I watched this to HEAR McCord, NOT you guys. Sorry. Watch Tucker Carlson do interviews. He is the Best. Never interrupts and actually HELPS his guest get their thoughts out, NOT Cut them off and get in what HE wants to say. You guys are not nearly as interesting as you think you are! AND Yes, if you don't play, no one gives a crap about watching golf. Even players of the game get bored the death watching it. No real Drama. Lastly, WTF are these nitwits thinking rolling back the golf ball for amateurs. Limit the pro tours to keep golf course architecture relevant, BUT let the weekender play what ever equipment they want, OR lose those folks to Softball!

You guys are completely out of your f*****g minds. Trying to catch the wave of marketing $ takes away the real appeal of golf. It is the history that binds us to golf. Guys in sheep fields smashing dung balls into gopher holes. The most precious commodity of generational sports, and that includes baseball, is legacy. As a participation sport, we can relate to guys choosing to get together to play the game that they started with their fathers. As a former professional tennis player, I am appalled at the transition taking place – coaches who were once thrown out for instructing their players from the stands won the day. The solution? Make coaching legal and make the coaches yell from the stands. Gone is the last truly individual sport. Golf has always been the most on-field coached sport. When you bring along a guy to carry your bad, a guy who can be your swing coach, putt reader, psychologist, lover, whatever, you have private tutoring, not an individual sport. More power to the guys to make even more ridiculous money. The collateral damage? The whole aura of the game. Centre Court at Wimbledon will be replaced by flashing neon lights and rock music. Just like the LIV tour. All these major tennis events rely on thousands of volunteers to man the grounds. How long before they get a piece of the pie?
