Keith Pelley used to be President of Rogers Media here in Canada. Rogers does sports, tv and internet. He also used to be CEO of TSN, a sport media company. These are supposed to be rival companies. Rogers and TSN each own 35% of Maple Leafs Sports for a total of 70%. Now, who own TSN? Well, its mostly Bell Media and also ESPN. Yup, he used to work at Bell Media as well.

Back in 2015, the CEO position opens up at Maple Leafs Sports. They wanted Keith. The excuse they gave was that they were worried he was too much of a "Rogers guy". That makes no sense. I think he 100% turned it down and became DP Tour CEO instead. He sits on the OWGR board. In 2023, he's the IGF Chairman and is supposed to serve until 2027. Will that change? Dunno. The Olympics are coming up and I just found out qualifications is done through world rankings.

MLSE CEO position has been open since March 2022. No way he's going back voluntarily to a job he turned down 8 years ago. Anyone really think that with all the connections he has at Bell, TSN, Rogers and MLSE, that he couldn't have had that CEO position anytime he wanted, especially in 2015 when it was open? C'mon.

Here's where some coincidences start to crop up. Remember Martin Slumbers? The CEO that resigned from R&A? Guess when he started as CEO? 2015. Same year as Pelley. They both sat on the OWGR board for the exact same number of years. They're both on the IGF board. And Pelley took over IGF CEO position from Monahan in 2022. Pelley is also the Managing Partner for the European Ryder Cup.

That last bit is interesting. Remember Rory saying recently that Rahm absolutely needs to be in the Ryder Cup? I bet Pelley was none too happy.

Now 2 people on the OWGR board are gone.

I don't know exactly what's going on. But something IS going on. My gut tells me there's some internal infighting going on between the Players and the higher ups at the PGA and DP tours.

    Sorry for the long post.

Agree 100%, pif is taking everything over…i wouldnt be suprised if part of the merger is Jay steps down. The stars eventually run all sports, its just the way it is and will be that way forever. In this instance the saudis will always be bigger than the stars bit will pay them enormous amounts of money. My gut tells me you will have a star studded world tour, then the pga and dp tours will be the lower feeder tours… sorry rory you picked the wrong side

If the dp world tour combined with liv in its infancy, they would have been the biggest tour in the world and world Golf would be in an Amazing position.

Instead the dp world tour is a secondary tour and boring to watch and consume

Let’s turn back the clock , never heard any of this crap, biggest soap opera now. It used to be golfers qualified to become a pro, tournaments had generous sponsors. Golfers needed to make a cut in order to earn money and points to retain card. Barely knew who ran the whole business, just enjoyed watching golfers with lots at stake. Now it’s back fighting, infighting, greed, wild new formats, team golf, politics, new rule every year, more and more private golf course. All this is about money and greed. The once average golfer now can’t afford to play nice courses, that might not be private. The words itself country club makes me vomit. The rich want it all.

I can't help but wonder if the PIF owns or influenced the Toronto Sports Organization. It honestly does sound like a dream job for the guy. Sounds like a mighty big, bright, carrot 🥕 , with the timing of its availability extremely suspicious.

If only Jay would follow their example… Anyway, I have been saying for a while that LIV should take over/replace DP tour and make it a genuine European Tour to rival PGA tour in America…maybe that's happening in some way or form

DP World Tour are now suffering from the very, very wrong decision of choosing to go all in on the PGA Tour. The tour has been relegated to a feeder tour below the level of the Korn Ferry. Along with LIV and the Asian Tour they could've become a World Tour at the top of the game. It was obviously a terrible decision at the time and they are reaping what they sowed.

Unfortunately for Mr Pelley, he has come across as weak since LIV emerged. The perception of the DP World tour is now as a feeder to the PGA tour. My opinion is that Mr Pelley, Mr Monahan, and Mr Norman need to step back from the running of the merger, in spite of doing such a great job of it( sarcasm). The game is in a bad place with falling viewing figures and ever increasing costs of equipment and memberships. I watch more of the womens tournaments than the men's.

You forgot to mention that Slumbers and Pelley are on the OWGR Policy committee that decides the formula for allocation of points. Are they also stepping down from those roles?

The PGA and DP are deeply corrupted organizations. Greg knew this decades ago, Phil knew this. LIV was started as a way to effectively destroy the PGA. The PGA helped this destruction immensely by staying true to their corrupted leaders and doing things like starting a negative PR campaign and all sorts of other BS. The PGA is finished. Look at the sponsors leaving now. Their greed and narcissism destroyed them. ITs awesome. Its also awesome seeing all the trump derangement sufferers, oops I mean, LIV derangement sufferers hanging on to the hope of a Rory salvation and now a Tiger salvation (apparently the greatest dad in the world, and an awesome guy even tho not a single honest word has ever come out of his whore loving mouth). The PGA has only the PGA to blame for this and its delicious to watch.

Who cares, golf nowadays seems to be all about money and sod everyone else. How does it affect me as an ordinary golfer? Not at all as I still have to pay through the nose to play golf and those in golf who earn a fortune only care about themselves. Let them get on with whatever they want as I personally now don’t give a dam! Have a nice day all. 👍

I absolutely share your despair about the state of the professional golf establishment. The Arabs have sown complete chaos into the sport with their obscene money. Over the past few years they have succeeded in turning the history, tradition and values of the sport into a money-grabbing clown show. Some of our most cherished household names past and present have forever been tarnished by this rampant clusterfk I include Greg Norman in that. God only knows what is now happening at the R&A and DPWT but for sure millions and millions of $ is changing hands and heads are still being turned away from good sense and sound decision-making.

Something is going on for sure. These exits are not coincidental. My guess is PIF is amassing power through the PGA Tour/Monahan’s missteps and grift and will take over control of professional golf. That will include full control of European golf which may not be a bad thing in the long run. They will have the money for certain. PIF and the PGAT couldn’t reach a deal so PIF went back door to the weakest link which is the DP Tour.
