How did we get here? MONEY. 300 million dollars for Rahm. And Callaway will be following him to LIV. The people behind LIV did their homework – a younger demographic that doesn't have the patience to follow a tournament all day, so it's a shotgun start and over in 5 hours. It's 3 days, 54 holes. It's fewer players and hence more potential "star power." The team aspect is a novelty aspect. It appeals to the new breed of "golfer' for whom the game isn't the true point of interest, it's getting out to have a good time and knock down some beers – party time. The richness of the game, its traditions and all are now rendered pretty much meaningless by MONEY. Very sad.
At one point Rahm claimed that he wanted to remain where he could contend in majors and build a legacy – with the Masters win he has a lifetime exemption there and he carries as of now a minimum of 5 years into the other 3 majors so he can go to LIV, cash in big and know that during the next 5 of his best competitive years he has access to the majors. A shorter season and travel arranged by LIV are other benefits. It became a no-brainer for him, but he is hurting the game in the process. They have all backed the PGA Tour into valuing money above all else.

PGA is old, stale, primitive and boring.. I’ve been to many events PGA & LIV and it’s not even close… LIV is awesome in person. Even my wife like going to LIV events and she hates golf 😂😂

Money only one thing ….money …I don’t watch Liv golf tour ( a circus of beer players with a big soundtrack in the background ) and I won’t …knowing where their money comes from …honest to God …my soul is not for sale. And if it means the end of PGA I will cancel my Golf Channel membership.

Let’s not fool ourselves This is greed, by the players first and foremost. More worryingly, extremely dodgy anti democratic regimes like Saudi Arabia are using their money to buy control of key sports and fool people into thinking they’re the acceptable face of sport

The LIV tournament format and scoring method is a pure joke, an entertainment circus.
The OWGR should stand and keep LIV results out of its ranking system as long as it keeps this format. Period.

All the players who towed the PGA party lines to the public were then betrayed, so I guess now it's every man for himself.

Why we are hearing "It's no big deal" and "Nobody watches it" from certain quarters, to the rest of the world he is a legend and people will be watching him irrespective of where he plays, golf is not owned by the PGA, The players are the stars.

Also all Rahm's Major sponsors are 100% behind him, what does that tell you about future media deals for LIV.

Make no mistake LIV will get bigger and bigger, fuelled by all the negativity and disrespect it has been constantly getting from one corner. (it's a mountain of free publicity)

Amerika had it coming, sanctions, bans, 'strategic partnerships' lol, war is hell. And now live golf, live as in broadcast live, can be viewed free on Youtube and on an app, anywhere, and replayed at anytime afterwards. That's Growing the game, all around the world, instead of needing to pay for view

Staggered at Rahm's lack of honesty and integrity. All the stuff he spouted a few months back about the history, heritage and legacy of the sport was just a load of bullshit. He'll be remembered more for this than his tremendous ability at the sport. If I was as wealthy as him and been offered the additional riches I'd have certainly said no. Very disappointed in him.

Lee Trevino warned the PGA this could happen years ago(Decades), they slowed down on Qualifying rounds, gave middle of the pack an Exemption into next year's Tournament, instead of uping the Prize Money made the average Pro Golfer lazy, happy making a living,

Because Norman is a spiteful prick and doesn't give a damn about wrecking the game. That's why we are here. He gets to ruin the game and has the money to do it where he didn't before. Another golfer you will all forget about.

Money may not be the root of all evil, but it sure has messed up watching golf on the telle. Certainly the PGA couldn't have played that trap any worse.
