Lets call it what it is. Those reporters are just pissed we are 9 for 9 with long shot winners this season. The big boys havent brought it this season. Wyndham Clark was lucky when he backed into his win cause of bad weather. It took 2-3 years to admit those players were sold a bill of goods and everybody behind the scenes is bitching. I think reporters like Lav love the personalities like Bryson and DJ cause they make it 'easy' to tell their stories. PGA tour is in a great spot.

It's a valid representation of legitimate golf. The ones that chose money over legit golf(4 rounds with cuts) knew that when they made their decision.

Just make a qualification system for LIV and make a cut and you can probably get points.

An Asian tour player would have to win 20 straight tournaments to break into the top 100, they play 72 hole cut tournaments
. The system is completely wrong

Seems LIV golfers agreed to leave on their own accord a format that can reasonably and fairly decide who is ranked where in the world. They agreed to new contracts that pay them very well for their time by playing in a completely different exhibition of golf skills. LIV is a patently different product. LIV has purchased it's players ( their product) from the other tours and likely will continue to do so. Players will continue to choose as they should, where they want to sell their golf skills and what a meaningful career in golf means to them.

A guy like Oosthuizen is losing out a lot. He was ranked 13th in thr world when joining LIV in 2022 after never being outside the top 50 since 2010 of which the majority was within the top 20. The odd DPWT event he now plays in doesnt really help for points because the points awarded are so skewed agaisnt DPWT events. If you dont finish top 5 then the points are almost not worth it. The OWGR has also been revamped to award recent form more meaning for LIV players who receive Zero points every week they drop down further even quicker. So the system is used as a weapon against LIV at the moment. I would say good move then from LIV to say fuck it, why try to beg the fake OWGR for eligbility when its anyway not accurate and best case scenario they would rip of LIV on points anyway.

Simple solution. Since ALL LIV players have the opportunity to enter sectional qualifying for the majors (except Masters– but they can still get in like Niemann), use a player's results in the majors as a ranking. If they can't get through qualifying, how good can they be?

is the OWGR broken? Yes. should LIV golfers be getting more ranking points which reflect the talent over there? Yes. Is it fair that some golfers can't be in all the tournaments they wish to? Yes. it will be solved when the merger happens.

This is so, so, soooooo, very stupid. The rankings are erratic because Tiger and Jack are no longer viable and dominating. Outside of them, golf is totally unlike any other individual sport. Anybody can win on the PGA Tour…in fact someone that we haven't even heard of, could win a PGA Tour event this year, and get into a Major and win that. That's the way it works, and it's worked freakin' fine for decades now. What LIV wants is to shut off any potential of an unknown to win their tournaments, which is EXACTLY why their tournaments are won by somebody we all know (they made their fame on the PGA Tour or European Tours), and would never allow a no name guy to come in and shoot 124 over the weekend and steal the show. No. They think this is the FUTURE! Eff that crap. That's exhibition, not competition. The reason why WWE is popular is because they're like LIV…but LIV can't even pull that off.

It NEVER has been. It's always been biased to the PGA and American Tour players. And those players barely travel the WORLD, so how is that even called O World GR???? The Euro Tour players travel the WORLD's COUNTRIES and go though much more trying times, places, languages and cultures besides the difficulties of the courses within those settings in various climates. Lets see the regular American players do it AWAY from their HOME in FOREIGN lands and see if they can play as well so far away from their home bases having to live out of their suitcases for most of the year like those guys.

What's funny and nobody is talking about it is that I think LIV Golf's shotgun start is actually insanely more fair of a thing for golfing conditions, it takes away those unfair weather conditions where the golfers who go out early and who go out later in the day have basically 2 different golf courses to play due to weather.

This might come as a total surpise to a lot of people, but, and now hold on…PGA did NOT invented the game of golf.
    Silence
But PGA act as they did just that.
Whoever that once sold out the heritage of golf to PGA did a bloody mistake. One…ONE major in Europe….and THREE in the US of A.
What LIV has done, is to pull some big roots and replanted them on the other side of the ocean.
Ofc its just a part of the bigger picture.
    Next step:
Rory, Fleetwood, Fitzpatric, Lowry…etc…will go back and play DP world tour for most of the time.
LIV players, depending on the scheduele, will play more DP event.
PIF will now turn their eyes on the DP world tour.
And here we go, the beginning of a world tour has seen its first light. With OWGR or another system.
And, i wouldnt be surprised to see a new Major takes ut form. Maybe in Spain on Valderama.

So, for events with a "cut", 140 players play 36 holes and 70 players play 72 holes. So that means, on average, PGAT players play 54 HOLES! Doh!

If you never heard someone that made the cut say: "The afternoon wave missed the wind/rain etc. which helped…" then you weren't paying attention. That is one of the main reasons for a 2 day cut. To even out weather and course conditions for the field. No cut and a shotgun start means, no need for more than a one day trim.

It is not the job of the tours/matkets to conform to the OWGR. It is the job of the OWGR to figure out how to fairly determine an objective rank for the worlds best active professional golfers. However, if the majors chose to select players using using other criteria it wouldn't matter. Example, take the top X from each of the primay tours (could be different # from each), top X OWGR, top X money winners, and logical exceptions.

Like they mentioned Data Golf seems to have a good claim to being a fair accurate representation of rankings at this time, maybe switch to using them.

72 holes vs 54 holes is irrelevant. Wyndham Clark received full points at the 54 hole Pebble Beach. The only important factor is strength of field and finishing position. LIV has only 24 protected spots each year and several openings each tournament. This can be improved. PGA Tour has 120 protected spot each year and the elevated events has very little turnover and this is where high points are awarded. Points are awarded to the elevated events, the WGCs and Tiger’s Hero tournaments to players who finish last. How is that justified?
