Is this a knee jerk reaction? Are they pinned into a corner?

LIV is just exhibition golf. 54 holes, full of has beens, once was and never will be’s. The biggest negative for me is the 9/11 families and the Khashoggi murder/dismemberment. Also they play at golf courses owned by a traitor and insurrectionist. Morally, it’s abhorrent! I have never and will never watch LIV. Some things in life are
More important than money. This is one. Ryder Cup rules should not be changed to accommodate the greed.

Forget the US investors.. The fact that the PIF now have most of the best players in the world and are getting more in the next few weeks means they are in the best position to dictate terms. Interesting that the Dunhill was won and 2nd place by the 2 LIV players so despite their counterparts saying that they would get rusty on the LIV tour…didnt seem that way after watching them play !! My reaction so is that the deal with PIF will be done..

If LIV get major spots, the PGA tour will be on a downward spiral. Simple as that. That is the only thing holding the PGA tour above water. Lets hope LIV get the major spots!

I don't think that this memo gives any definite information to any pga tour member. Its not going to stop Finau or Hatton from leaving . It does nothing for the non-elevated pros who are trying to make a living on the tour. It just provides more uncertainty on the future of the tour.

That consortium has some VERY powerful and rich investors. The Policy Board has been active. Whether of not it's a knee jerk reaction, it's been well constructed.

Likely to agree on a few more items and add extension time to 1/31 deadline. The venture capitalists will want a return on investment in less than 2 years. The PGA is bleeding money as you say so the VC groups are nothing but a counter ploy to PIF. This is not about golf but it is about control. The PGA keeps digging a hole for themselves.

How do these supposed investors expect to get returns? The Saudis seem willing to play Chicken with the PGA just for the sake of legitimacy. If they lose money but gain face then they win. If the LIV merger fails and the PGA continues as a purely individual sport then where is the additional revenue going to come from? Azinger being fired suggests future TV contracts will get smaller.

LIV is unsustainable. They make zero money and are spending $3-4 billion per year. The PGA needs to get more exciting broadcasts and more exciting formats – like LPGA and PGA competing on same course, etc. They can outlast them and pick up the pieces when saudis get tired of losing billions every year.

It's not a binary choice as far as investors go, the deal probably needs some American partners to keep Congress from squashing the deal if it's only between PGA and PIF. Bottom line is PIF will have controlling interest and will be approving all decisions. It's a done deal, the details are just not out yet.

LIV and PIF will greatly reduce the value of PGAT if it continues to operate standalone. Hard to see private equity wanting to invest large sums where risk of player defection is very high. So PE will even want PIF involved. Either way it seems very unlikely that PGAT can continue independent of PIF.

Just ignore the end of the year deadline…it’s so easy for both to say ok let’s just extend the deadline. So that isn’t strongarming anyone and Jon just looks like a hypocrite so that doesn’t help them at all on LIVs side. The PGA know LIV don’t have the money coming in to maintain these huge contracts and will go bankrupt in a few years if they don’t get a merger so reality is the PGA can wait them out and win. All that money promised won’t exist. lIV has no in person fans paying to go and no big tv deals. It’s all just investor money and that will dry up…while the pga has a profitable,e model and is gonna have new money coming in soon as well. PGA is in a much better position looking out 5 years. LIV will be bankrupt and gone if they don’t get the PGA to partner with them

US investors is a giveaway to the ol boys club, PIF will give money and control to the PGA (players owned). Now they want to dilute the players by having VC?

Those business men aren’t going to get involved until LIV stops taking the best players and biggest draws the PGA has to offer. Jay is in full desperation mode and the LIV backers are beating his brains in. I’m curious if JR was successful in negotiating some changes to the LIV format?

LIV is only going to take "big" names from now on. This continues to weaken the PGA Tour. Why would TV networks continue to pay big money? What's the incentive for tournament sponsors to put up big money for elevated events? I'm afraid that the golf that I have enjoyed for over 50 years is going away. The big names that are left can't play every week; thus, further watering down the broadcasts. I hope I'm wrong.

All the PGA players upon qualification for the tour should become a part shareholder which would retain them on the tour if the share was big enough. They will not leave the tour if they are shareholders and get dividends for their families

Investors: how will we get a return on our investments?

PGA: add more commercials during our coverage.

Investors: that could work. What are your viewership numbers and demographics.

PGA: we get less eyeballs than Golden Girls reruns and 65+.

    Investors: I'm out.

Once again Jay Monahan “managing by crisis” only. The memo says that they are still kicking the can down the street with no resolution in sight , but please guys don’t leave! American investors will invest in what golf is worth. Team owners of both NFL and MLB teams are on the International stage. Golf world wide does not have the same return. Look at where Golf places, barely in the Top 10 Internationally, soccer, football, basketball, baseball, cricket and volleyball beat out Golf. PGA players now want LIV type money. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN with America Investors.

I find it hilarious that the PGAT went from discussing punishments for defectors to fighting for their existence in a month.
