Good interview but……nothing about Saudi Arabia’s role. Money rules. Human rights?😢

Money will always be a part of it. It's something people who aren't into golf can understand. When Otani signed for $700 million, the headline was "biggest contract ever signed in North American sports history," not "best baseball player gets his worth recognized."

It's always a headline because it's an obscene amount of money to, when it comes down to it, play a game. I'm not saying golfers are overpaid. They're paid what the market commands. But $$ of that amount will always attract interest. Even Rick and Guy spent some time talking about Rahm's $$ when he signed with LIV because it garners (at least) some interest.

I get Rick's issue with the narrative but it's an inevitable aspect of professional sports. It's like saying, "why can't people just act without people focusing on how much they made for a movie role."

Whilst I agree a change is needed to Pro golf, I watch more golf on YouTube than I do pga tour, DP tour or LIV golf. Hopefully, they do some kind of merger and we have a world tour going forward… but it has to be 72 Holes. Even in Amateur golf events, it has to be 72 holes for world ranking points. The history of golf is 72 holes… I do like the smaller fileds and shotgun starts, so in 4 hours, you can watch everybody play the tournament. PGA tour coverage has become a bore fest with loads of advertisement breaks, pictures of the leaderboard, and Paul mcGinley moaning about how far the players hit the ball now because of technology… he doesn't mention the fact that most top golfers are now athletes.

My biggest take away from the drama around the PGA Tour and LIV is that I don't give a rats ass about professional golf anymore. Throw in the USGA nerfing golf balls, and the joy has really been sucked out of the sport.

YouTube golf is where it's at!

I genuinely didn't like Bryson before the LIV stuff, but I can't deny his ability and the attention he has brought to the game. This was a great interview and fun to listen to. Thanks to both guys for sitting down and doing it.

This was excellent…I warmed to Bryson and having watched his coaching video I believe his passion is real and very honest..but the thing that I see as missing from all the New generation and LIV conversation is..where is the mechanism for young golfers to get into these lofty positions such as LIV..it appears that the main tours are doing the development .the PGA and R&A work hard to bring in new talent..until LIV does the same it will always look like a Rich boys club sadly

Liv, vs PGA vs DP tour top players. That would be great to see the top players committing to a tour playing in one big comp

It’s easy to say it’s not about the money and “you just want to inspire” when you’re getting paid more than my entire family’s lineage combined.

F LIV golf is not a team sport. That’s part of what makes it beautiful.

To really succeed requires providing the fans with "interest". Team loyalty (as in soccer) can result in tremendous attention. Rivalry (Tiger-Phil, Arnie-Jack) dare I say the last instance of such an occurrence was, wait for it…. Bryson and Brooks!!!! No need for animosity however, just continuous competition and fierce opposition. Finally, like pro-ams but better, make entry for fans to get access to and even competition with the players. Even if it is stratified such that even high handicappers can play against some of the lesser lights, they would still be thrilled to get the chance to play on those courses.
They only need give it a try to see just how well it will succeed.

The PGA is nearing bankruptcy. Their Board sanctioned spending extra to staunch the loss of quality players but with Rahm's departure, they now must find private equity to back their higher spending and lower bottom line. LIV and the PIF know this and their deep pockets will allow them to apply pressure to the "negotiations" (instrument of surrender). Dinosaur vs. mammal and, guess who wins?

My biggest thing with the state of PGA golf right now is that it’s looked at through the eyes of players like Rory or Tiger. Guys that haven’t had to pay for anything golf related in years. I feel so bad for the guys at the bottom that are one tournament away from having a card but no money to play in pga tournaments. It’s the same thing with the ball rollback and eventually the driver rollback. Because we all know the driver is next. Golf balls are expensive. R&D is expensive and I’m scared that when 2030 rolls around proV1’s are gonna be $100 a dozen. Because that cost is gonna be passed on to us…the ones that don’t have ball sponsorships. It just feels like golf is happy with the growth but they are against those of us that don’t have money.

I like the concept as Bryson described it. Guys really want to perform even if they are in last place. I really like the cut aspect of the PGA. Creates so much drama. Would the team concept work with a cut?

Awesome interview, Bryson has dissected the game of golf and is paving the way for players to influence club manufactures to fit their needs. Bryson's enthusiasm displays his love of the game and his willingness to bring it through alternate sources to build its popularity, especially in younger players. Keep up the good work.

I just hate the fact that they can only compete in majors if they join Liv..hell why not both..keep liv with big time team events which are entertaining..I'm just sitting here bummed thinking I'll never see rhambo play any PGA events anymore and any number of other players that joined Liv..not hating on there decisions to join Liv..If I'm worth $16 million from grinding it out on the PGA for years and Liv offers me 100 to 500 million to just sign me..who wouldn't

LIV Golf is for the next generation of consumers. TBH, I am the person that really only watched golf during the majors and when they could drag Tiger out on the course, otherwise, I’m actually playing. I get that my consumer habits are not the target of the new models that LIV presents, or that the PGA is trying to figure out. But I fear that these personalities can’t carry a tour. But even worse, the financial model will extinguish the career of the next Tiger or Jack. I mean, does anyone really care that Bryson shot a 58 at an inconsequential event? It’s like when you hear of tour pros shooting 58 at their home course. It is an example of what a tour pro can do, without the pressure. Other than that, this is a “produced” piece.
