I think you have misconstrued his comments completely. LIV is not an add-on to the current tours, it is trying to compete against the PGA tour. IPL, while detrimental to test cricket, is not in direct competition. It also is responsible for uncovering budding talent. However, I only watch test cricket but there is a huge fan base for IPL. To each his own.

Rory is the biggest flip flopper af all time. He has jumped from neutral to anti liv over the time Liv has been around. I was a big fan of Rory but have no respect for him now. I am a club golfer in aus and most of my golfing mates think the same.

So, if people want yo see the "best players in the world" play they need to watch the PGA, that's how you get the kudos of being world number 1, 2 whatever. Once you join LIV you are just an exhibition golfer playing for money. Will, the kids out there who want to play golf for a job want to be world number 1, like their heroes, or for they just want to earn a load of cash!

I’m sorry, but the way he’s acted in recent months has really overshadowed his career achievements. If he was to stop tomorrow I don’t think I’d care and if I’m honest I don’t think golf would suffer as a result.

I suspect this sudden u-turn indicates that something is in the works, the buyout is inevitable and he’s basically undoing his words to make sure he’s included. He’s left the tour board under the guise of concentrating on his career, but I suspect he’s trying to make himself as free of an agent as possible to avoid any conflict of interest between, LIV, PGA Tour and TGL.

I watched that same interview and I didn't read into it anything other than trying to get a solution to this issue. Its masdively screwed up by both the tour and Liv. There is never going to be a solution.

No Rory stated he wouldn't play in LIV golf and he stated that he is happy where he is as he feels at home. Stop making it more out of it.

Every time mcilroy opens his mouth he makes a bigger clown of himself. What a twat. Can’t wait for his first interview at a LIV event. He’ll be playing it because it’s great for the game, bringing in a new audience blah blah blah and pocket his £millions. What a fucking hypocrite pmsl

That is exactly what LIV initially proposed, and Monahan told them to pack sand. Rory is saying this now, because I'd bet anything that is how the new framework is going to be set up, and he wants a piece of the money so he is laying the groundwork now. He is such a little hypocrite it's ridiculous.

The biggest problem I have with LIV is that the television product is almost unwatchable. It's like golf meets NASCAR meets WWF. Way too many moving parts.

I don’t think Rory has changed his mind…. I think he has realised he was being used as a mouthpiece for the USPGA…he believed and was happy to regurgitate the lies he was being fed….for some reason his eyes have been opened to the reality and he now sees that LIV is not the big enemy he was led to believe…. I’m sure that’s why he left the players committee thing too…..Tiger will realise his mistake soon enough too.

So Rory's answer is for them to just give the money to us and we will spend it for you? (Grassroots programs) Rory is a petulant child. When he took shot after shot at Greg Norman he sealed his fate. People under 40 probably have no idea how great Greg Norman was. He was number one in the world for a ridiculous amount of weeks in a row.

They are hypocrites, last year Jon Rahm distanced himself from LIV, but another 50 million to 450 million and he moves over, and now the greed is starting to sway Rory to playing in LIV events. The greed and the mismanagement of the PGA tour has seen money means more to the players, maybe if the players are not members of the PGA tour than they should be barred from playing the majors?

You might want to go watch the interview again. Rory stops himself SEVERAL times from finishing statements that would have more defined his point of view/agenda. He's still trying to hedge his statements.

Sounds as though Rory’s being pragmatic in recognising that LIV isn’t going away and therefore is adopting a revised position along the lines of ‘ if you can’t beat them, join them’. If it’s not a ‘U turn’ then I don’t know what is.

I think he's finally realizing that LIV golf ain't going anywhere and so he's turned tail, taken a huge spoon of sugar which helps with the medicine, and swallowed his ever diminishing pride. What a hypocrite!!

It definitely seems like Rory is trying to set a stage in which it justifies his flip, given his previously strong stance against LIV. He's trying to publicly rationalize why it wasn't ideal before, but now with it being like ___ it makes sense. Rory unfortunately put himself in an uncomfortable/awkward/embarrassing situation to where he's flipping on something that he was such a strong proponent against. People said that Rahm flipped, but not really. He may have had one press conference where he said LIV wasn't good for him because____, but Rahm remained very professional and accepting towards LIV and the players who choose to switch tours unlike Rory, who even after merger talks said that he still hated LIV. It's cringe worthy to the point where I almost feel bad for Rory because the flip makes me feel awkward. In theory the international players, especially the ones who already qualify for all of the majors, who play in several DP events on a yearly basis… LIV couldn't be a better fit. Especially for players who's ideal home base isn't in the US.

Since this began I've been a proponent for the players and their decisions and I disliked the hate against the players for their choices, obviously in the beginning it was horrible. I partially rooted for LIV only because of the atrocious behavior of the PGA tour, but LIV is not fun to watch (even though it has around 15 or so players that I really enjoy and miss seeing play on a near weekly basis) and the team stuff sucks as much as I wanted to like it for those reasons… no one gives a shyte about teams… people want to see who the best golfers are, not the best teams… the exception of course is, at the end of the year or every other year have a Ryder/Presidents cup and watch team play by country golf go head to head. That's apples and oranges A dozen or more Ryder cup events a year would not be fun to watch. Imagine if Tiger Woods spent most of his career playing in team events (and when you have a collection of pro golfers on a team having the best golfer on your team has such a minimal positive impact to that team)… it's redic! I realize the team play component is in addition to individual golf, but LIV has made it more of a focal point than individual play (it's easier to go to the site and find the team play results than it is to find out who won what tournament). And the LIV format where they blast pop music in the background. I promise you that 95+% of attendees and players don't want that. That alone would make me not go to watch a golf event. But I digress.
