The European tour in the 50's/60's said categorically that it would NEVER be a feeder tour to the PGA ..how things change …Money talks and the Saudi's have it to burn …

They just don't get that PIF / LIV are in for the long haul and are not going anywhere. PGAT will be a feeder tour for LIV as it grows draining the top level players. How do you think PGAT investors will feel about that ?. I just tried to watch to latest PGAT highlights and was bored senseless after 5 mins!!!. Looks like PGAT will run its course doing the same old things and ultimately become extinct….What a shame for golf.

Just so everyone realises, its not cash its "equity" This is share holdings in the new entity. Like all shares the value depends on initial valuation of the IPO. Then the value of the shares changes dependent on prifit and loss. If the earnings dont match predicted forecasts then the value of the shares go down. The PGATOUR hws still not shown how they are going to generate all this additional income for a ROI. Broadcast rights are sold until 2030. Plus there will be restrictions on how these players can sell their equity.

Josh you missed the part about team golf, When asked, Tiger said we already have team golf with TGL. Ithink TGL will be a massive flop. Pgatour is playing with fire.

Yes it’s obviously tactful from Tiger and Spieth.

Tiger and the pga tour seem to want to get offers that were on the table in the past, maybe before John and others moved over.

They assume ssg money helps the Tour side in negotiations but imo the more money the pga tour and partners invest to keep up with pif, the more it justifies what they have spent on LIv and emboldens pif to continue.

Tiger and company know this ssg money will make the Top pga tour players more money in the next 5 years then they have made in their collective careers. So from their perspective they do not need the pif money.

But how this addresses the long term health of the pga tour, we are being told we just have to assume these investors are firecrackers when it comes to innovating golf. IMO they are there hoping to get a piece of where pif has been taking golf.

Paying LIv players to come back or just poring money into mega purses would both help the pga tour stay competitive a little longer compared to showering their top remaining guys with money.

It’s fun to see tiger and Jordan be tactful. It’s fascinating because if they were smart about what’s best for the long term future of the Tour they would have made the deal Already. But is it in their personal best interests right now?.

And as usual the owgr is huge in all of this. It’s the only thing holding Livs ability to recruit practically every top 5o player. And I cannot stress enough how much Liv deserves points for a long list of reasons.

The PGA Tour is lucky to have gotten a sponsor commitment at all.

    Their product value is
    extremely questionable.

Without a strong showing at this years' Majors, The PGA Tour will be fielding questions of relevance.

Sponsors will realize about the same time as many of you, that theres a new situation in Professional Golf.

The PGA Tour is not where the worlds best players, play.

The World's best players can now be found elsewhere.

If you want to see the world's best players follow the music.

You'll know you're in the right place if you see a bunch of golfers sporting short pants, big smiles, and two caddies.

One to carry their golf clubs, the other to carry their wallet.

The new landscape of Professional Golf has dictated that the Majors are carrying more prestige than ever before.

That is making the assumption that they fire the OWGR from having influence regarding the participants.

If The Membership of Augusta National isn't careful, the newest Champ may be in Butler cabin trying a green t-shirt on for size.

The Claret Jug, a shot glass.

The next Ryder Cup Captain ?

Could it wind up being Dorf ?

Tiger mentioned another aspect to, on how could PIF/LIV golfers return to the PGA that would be acceptable to those who stayed! Could there be a sum of money that would need to be paid, a percentage of their signing on fee, that they need to use to buy themselves back in! Or some other financial payment from LIV to those that stayed!

This is all tactical…. 2.5 billion is pocket change for the saudis…the product the pga is putting out now is unwatchable… when the pga starts letting guys play 8-12 tourneys a year things might change… otherwise more will jump to liv

Tiger is going to get the majority of the SSG money that is going to the Players, this deal does not secure the future of the PGA, its barely even investing in the future of the PGA. The PGA and this investment are built on the premise that Golf is an American sport. There is a real opportunity internationally, the Euro/DP tour couldn't take advantage of it because they became a subordinate PGA tour where star power all went to the US and fans know any future stars will follow suit. LIV will offer visibility to international players that isn't US centric. Its good for golf, its bad if your an American fan that believes the sport has to run through America to be "real"

Imagine that any entity comes in with $3Billion and tries to 'disrupt' YOUR business…your engineers, teachers, workers…whatever. The horror! Everybody is getting an incredible raise, and none of you deserve it….but you'll take it. Of course you will. Those that don't take it, are offered more to stay. I don't feel sorry for any of these players, I envy them. Tomorrow, the winner of the LA Open will get $4M??!!!!?!?!!?! That was just 1.5M a couple of years ago, When I go to church, I will pray for them, I hope they won't spend their money in one place kind of thing.

Why should I care? Nobody is doing anything for the fans? It’s all about putting more money in the individual players pockets! LIV isn’t better yet the players are making money regardless if they win or not for less days that FANS get to watch their stars! Is that a better fan experience? I guess that’s up to each of us

I think the SSG financial deal is in all likelyhood Jay Monahan's golden parachute, he knows his day's as Commish are numbered and the opportunity to feather his economic future was there! The ownershipof the PGA Tour obviously is clearly now in question after all SSG are unlikely to invest such an immense amount of cash in anything without being in complete financial control so as always "the Devil is in the details" and I'd bet 90% of tour players have'nt read any of the corporate legalise!

I think SSG will take control of PGA a bit down the road. Why else would they invest that kind of money. Then SSG will make a deal with PIF. The PGA is so screwed up it's ridiculous, talking about those who actually control the PGA.

It is not about money. Liv tour. Now has more top players than the pga tour. Without these top players, sponsors will be heading to the liv tour. Which is the end of the pga.

I’ve said this so many times. The PGA Tour simply hate the fact it’s Saudi money. If the PIF were an American company we’d have seen the framework agreement in place already and it would be a distant memory. Isn’t it funny how an American investment group stump up the money and everyone is all smiles again?
