LIV need a TV deal, major. However having watched LIV on Youtube no commercials – 3 rounds shotgun start (defined TV time) with the most colourful players all playing at the same time, coupled with a team dynamic that after 4-5 watches becomes interesting – thats a big improvement on 4 rounds of endless TV breaks and no golf. The LIOV format is worth pushing because the PGA just learned this week that does not own the players (assets) and is therefore worth not a great deal at the moment.

Their viewpoint on LIV was always so short sided when PIF and Phil were always playing the long game (10 – 15 years). Those teams arent worth alot now but once all the drama is forgotten and LIV is basically apart of the Pro Golf Eco…they will have value. LIV is on the path to become the international premier league of golf, where the superstars play

LIV needs to overcome the challenge of pissing off many golf fans by hurting the sport. That’s a turnoff for many. Golf is not better in this state, it’s worse.

youtube golf content is 90% of my current golf viewing. watching 5 or 6 hours of a major tourney on 1 or 2 days is about all the PGA tour golf I ever watch. In that time you will see dozens of rolex, bank and insurance commercials and less that 1 hour of actual golf. The pga tour model is not working for me when i'm in my 50's how is going to work for younger views?

Yasir has no interest in running the PGAT, his baby is Liv Golf which is on fire! Monahan has ruined his reputation and most likely be ousted and replaced by anybody else but Monahan. Liv has been gaining momentum and with Rahm coming over, it's opening the flood gates for more signings, sponsors and tv deals! All the while the PGAT is flatlined.

As usual, you four only state the opinion of the PGA and it's elites that demand to maintain control.
Firstly, the human rights thing only matters to the MSM because the Saudis off'd one of their own in Kashoghi. Before that happened, the MSM could have cared less about the Saudis record with the LGBTQ community. The PGA and their minions (you guys are the minions), are trying to use that as a weapon to defeat the PIF and you are failing.
Secondly, Yasir doesn't want to be the CEO of golf, he is busy running the PIF. He does not have the time. Being the governor of the PIF means he controls all the money anyway so essentially, he is in charge regardless and that was always a known factor. I do agree, Monahan is on the way out the door. He always has been, Yasir just used him as a tool to get this started. In the end, Greg Norman was quietly, by always intended to be elevated to the CEO of the overall golf business. The Saudis trust him and that goes a long way with the PIF. So the info stating Greg was going to be fired is complete BS. It was always the plan to lure in the PGAT with the promise of Jay being CEO, sign the paper work. A short time later, fire Jay and elevate Greg to that position and honestly, that would be the best business decision. Greg personally owns a multi corporation business and he understands what needs to be done to make them successful. Jay on the other hand, is a complete and utter moron.

One scenario I can see is Tiger taking over the PGA tour when it slides to its lowest point and they’ve lost all major players. Tiger will come in and take it private with his own investors at the lowest enterprise value (think of all his billionaire friends, especially Michael Jordan, probably the most savvy sports business guy around). With this, he can directly compete with LIV and a tug of war will ensue. I think this is the only way the PGA legacy, or whatever is left of it, can survive.

The END is near for the PGA Tour it’s just a matter of time. Circle of the Sport and what goes around comes around. More will likely follow. Let’s be reminded that GOLF greats like Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino and their other mates who way back then played tournaments under the PGA of America (founded in 1916) in 1960 began the process of breaking away and in 1975 the organization they created achieved full independence from the PGA of America and was named the "PGA Tour." The coming of LIV Golf is no different … In reality PGA tour is a SUNSET tour. Changing of the Guards !!

LIV did all they could for many years diplomatically but the PGA kept on bullying them, showed them no RESPECT and gave no quarter. Well what goes around comes around ……. LIV will NOT show them mercy and no quarter will be given.

PGAT has made one stupid mistake after the other, ignore an advance of the world's largest investor in global sport, then publicly defaming them using the 9/11 families etc…… then backtracking and approaching them to partner with LIV getting the chairman of the board when they knew where it was going (which destroyed trust with members and took away PGAT claimed moral high ground), then opening the door to there being a choice of investors (killing LIV trust in the deal), meanwhile sponsors are walking because the price to play is to high, players now leaving at an accelerated rate, and happy LIV fans, players/caddies etc……. I think the time where LIV even feels value in a deal is gone (5 more players by Jan 24 would be my guess, two new teams and 65-75% of the world top 50 at the time they joined LIV noting OWGR is the last lever PGAT plays which is embarrassing and the Hero event showed it), yet PGAT still somehow thinks it is in a position to call shots. The final mistake will be signing a deal where the PGAT assets are in a pot that is funded by VC/PE money, because when they dont get double digit returns and they wont (because PGAT is not global, that too they conceded to LIV), means PGAT will fold, like KODAK did….. the assets to be sold off like Logos etc will probably be bought from the fire sale by Yasir to make the circle complete. PGAT have acted like the local party boy who won $20M in the lotto and lost it all and maybe added some debt inside 5 years.

Soon LIV will have at least 10 of the top 20 golfers according to the Sports Illustrated. That will move the needle and will be a tipping point for even the most skeptical fans. LIV will acquired PGA Tour which will exist as it. WGC/ Elevated events and LIV will eventually be as one for the elite players.

@KylePorter Read this slowly : The boiling frog is an apologue describing a frog being slowly boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability or unwillingness of people to react to or be aware of sinister threats that arise gradually rather than suddenly.

I’m a Newcastle fan what the PIF has done for our Football club I can’t thank them enough. I’m also a golf nut. The PGA tour has took all our top players from the DP World Tour. I realise 3 of the best 4 golf tournaments are played in the US. Seve, Langer, Lyle, Faldo and co won their multiple majors when they played in Europe. It’s karma now for Monahan. I hope Hovland, Aberg, Scheffler join Rahm going to LIV. However I don’t think PIF want to destroy the PGA tour they want to join forces. Yassir would scrap LIV in a heartbeat and all their stupid team events if PGA agreed to a merger. I read PIF were willing to inject $2bn in prize fund and $1bn as a sweetener to the star players who didn’t join LIV. However Cantlay, Woods and co are world class golfers but not clever businessmen I just think they don’t want the Saudi’s. Hopefully I’m wrong and they see sense and agree to work with the Saudi’s

If you compare the PGAT to baseball, football or basketball there is no comparison in INCOME from the franchise, merchandising and tv contracts.
The money for the PGAT comes principally from corporate sponsors at the various tournaments and the tv contracts and PGA media rights. You'd never get rich from investing in the PGAT.
The current business model of the PGAT is like a Guild from the 1800s. You MUST be in the Guild to play; the income is for a non-profit organization; money also goes to charity; money goes to prizes; money goes to management; money goes to investments for pensions; money goes to PGAT golf venues, and a few other things. NOT a lot of room for profits in here.
How can you expect to compete against a Sovereign Wealth Fund that isn't concerned about MAKING A PROFIT !!!??? You can't. This is becoming clear to the PGAT members. They're just waiting to see who leaves next.
To the last guy out………be sure to turn off the lights.

I really can't believe you guys are still raising the 'moral' question when discussing LIV. You would have no moral question when you roll up to buy Saudi oil to fill your car. You didn't raise any moral question when the PGA tour said we want Saudi money also. You didn't raise any moral question when many of the PGA Tour sponsors continue to deal with Saudi Arabia – particularly Fedex that is expanding their footprint with Saudi Arabia. Honestly, how tone deaf can you people be? There is Saudi money all over the world and you have no doubt never raised any moral questions previously. If you really want to be taken seriously, you need to move on from the 'fake' outrage.
Yasir will not be CEO of new Co – he is already named as chairman. Why would he want to run New Co he will get someone aligned to his thinking to do it.
So PIF putting money into Golf is irrational, but Private equity putting money into golf is not irrational. You people really need to take stock and l;isten back to what you are saying – it is completely unhinged. I just have to turn off – I'm not sure I have heard a more irrational bunch of rubbish for quite some time.

Since you talked about Saudi's human rights and how it's viewed…do Americans have any idea how the USA is viewed internationally? How do you think people outside the USA feel about American government killing millions of innocent women and children in Iraq (and other countries like Vietnam etc.) and being the cause of conflicts all over the world…? Old saying that you shouldn't throw stones at people if you live in a glasshouse…so I would suggest you guys stick to the golf and leave politics out of it…just saying

It ends with EA Sports LIV Golf for all consoles and devices. Plus prime time TV coverage. At this point the PGA Tour seemingly assumes the same financial status as the DP World (European) Tour. LIV Golf is global golf. They seem to have offered the PGA Tour their final opportunity to collaborate.
