Rory should NOT!!!! have been entitled to any relief from the ball being near the green like it was. His ball looked like it was clearly in the rough so why is he entitled to any relief. I would 've played that ball as it lyed.
No matter how u cheat, u still can't win the Masters 😜😜😜😜 no green jacket for u Sorry hehe
You need a PhD to be proficient at Golf Rules tbh
That was BS no mud or any thing on that ball
Woke joke double standard
He eventually got the penalty stroke and chill and didn't even argue about it. Cool champ and even bother not like some of the silly commenters here. All sort of nonsenses.
its raining here thank you PGA!
Prefered lies…..this would never happen on LIV…..😂😂😂
have local rules when it is 10 degrees celsius does not make sense at all, they are pro's. it is a mistake from the pga and rory takes the benefit of it like every pro should do.
If it didn't bounce it obviously plugged..💚✌🏽
Me thinking…. I play those lies all the time and my buddies would tell me to pound sand if I wanted to move it. 😁
Liv Golf: Hi Rory!
The stupid thing is the PGA allowing a club length relief on preferred lies. That is ridiculous.
The amount of ignorance in the comment section is top shelf.
It really bugs me when players take advantage of the rules. Pretty nervy to even ask for relief for that ball in the greenside rough. 👎🏼
We call it Rory rules. Ever since US Open. Whatever he wants he gets. Move it closer to hole? Sure why not
Every other hole I'm trying to find my ball
Call me a pedant but Rory did NOT take Embedded Ball relief (Rule 16.3) on the plugged fairway lie. He PLACED the ball under Preferred Lies (Model Local Rule E-3). Embedded Ball relief would require him to DROP the ball. He did the same by the green, after first confirming that part of the ball was in contact with the fairway, where the MLR applies.
Respect the time and effort you put into these videos! 👍
Removing the ball from the turf is illegal. We face it all the time in the NE You have to hit it where it lies. Cheater! Sometimes for us it's so bad the ball is under the turf and you can't find it. Lost ball and drop penalty applies. One time my ball was embedded below turf on a drive which hit the incline of a sand trap turf and was 6 inches deep and I had to destroy the course to hit the ball. I took 4 swings to free the ball from the turf. This is the right way to score.
He blasted that drive!
Judging by this comment section it seems that more people took the rules in Happy Gilmore seriously than I ever expected
Preferred lies yet we still jave to hit out of divots, which should be considered ground under repair. Golf rules are asinine.
Golf attire….no sweatshirt hoodies!
And must have collared shirts.
Biggest crybaby in sports
BS
If you aint on the green, you dont touch the ball
Preferred lies? BS
These guys are pros, they should deal with it
So it rolled off the edge into the rough, play the ball where it lies for Christ sake!
I thought I had to play that ball 100%! I would have never believed someone if they told me that it was possible to get relief on a plugged ball. Crazy!
Back to the European tour
His cheated before
Not an issue, if you are a beginning golfer or older
remember to always T the ball up on the fairway
Does Harry Dimond really have a vest that says MCLLROY?
When I am in those situations I prefer not to give myself any advantage if possible – just make the drop/placement fair and as close to the point as I can – my preference is to “meet the challenge square on” & take my medicine when I get a bad lie – otherwise I don’t feel good about wimping out – maybe that is what Rory is doing here? He wants to keep the difficulty rating high to keep it interesting?
Hahah omg, can you See the ball to the left of rory coming in hot at 0:54…
I think I played this course on my PS many moons ago..
these pro golfers sure are high maintenance
PGA would be more interesting if they could ask Rory on the spot why he took that lie.
Surely it's lift clean and place
There are enough officials and other players on the course that no player should ever have to take a penalty for a rules infraction. If another player or an official sees you drop incorrectly and doesn't say anything it should just be allowed. The rules of golf are often unfair and make no sense.
That's me walking down the fairway every time.🤣🤣🤣
Lets Go LIV !
What is it with these stupid hoodies…? I mean, it makes zero sense, but when you gotta move something off the shelf; just throw it on a pga tour player. At least put the hood on when you're putting, and exalt in its straightening way it aligns your nostrils, so we sense some practicality, and throw on those clinching trousers that are so anklet inducing couture.
Is he drinking Enduraphin?
The shake he’s holding in the thumbnail is the company I started in college (Enduraphin)!!!!!… Surreal!! 😳
I golf a lot by myself. When the ball lands and plugs, completely embedded into soft mushy fairway, I just pull the ball out, wipe it off and place next to where the plug hole is and swing away. Basically like it never plugged to begin with.
thats a good question.. seems like everyone is confused about this ruling.. a lot of golfers have this issue all the time, our ball is leaning on the rough but touching the frindge, im sure most of us play it as it lies, if you have been golfing for a long time, you know we all played it as it lies. is this a new rule we are alow'd to get a free drop? is this "preffered lie" depend on the golf course? a local rule? PGA please explain this rule, a lot of golf courses are cut like this also. what is the difference from this lie vs a ball in someones divot? why was he able to place but not have to drop from the knee?
Because of this another rule, IF BALL IS FAIRWAY BURIED, MAY BE REMOVED AND PLACED ONE BALL LEFT, RIGHT OR BEHIND HOLE. OUT OF FAIRWAY BURIED TO BE PLAYED AS SITS OR 1 STROKE PENALTY AND PLACED AS ABOVE.
Pluggedd ball rule i knew about, prerferred lie i did not .. inteersting (and i'm saving this for next time it happens to me.. most of my friends are aware of the plugged ball rule change alerady.. it was a needed change)
Saudi SCUMBAGS!!!!!
